Boat 8.9m Barbarian Class semi-rigid inflatable partially built by Island plastics Ltd. at Cowes. The boat also named "Spirit of Cowes" was re-engined in March 2004 and is now powered by twin 225hp Honda Four-Stroke outboard motors. It is fitted with state of the art VHF Radio communications and DSC Controller together with a sophisticated navigational system for search and rescue. The boat is capable of a top speed in excess of 40 knots and carries 4 crew. Other equipment includes various tools, basic first aid supplies etc. The boat has the capability of staying at sea for long periods of time and coping with the severest of weather conditions that the Solent can offer.
Onboard Communications :- Radio intercom system between the crew fitted into their helmets, supplied and manufactured by DS Developments.
